Nice walkies this morning. We drive uphill to La Quinta, less than 5km as the crow flies, nearly double that to drive, on some very scary inclines – in that 5km is almost 1km vertical.

Our walk is not new, just one we like, and we climb 576 ft quickly to the signposts where several walking routes cross, before a slow descent to the ledge above Adeje and Barranco del Infierno.

On the way we find double water channels, and later even carved directly into the bedrock – both are quite unusual, yet single channels are everywhere, many still in use bringing water down to the banana plantations.

Our view, of the flat-topped Roque del Conde (the one we see from our garden) and over the coast never fails to inspire, not least that it’s a while since we climbed Conde and soon it will be too hot.

One photo shows the coast from Los Cristianos round vía Las Américas to Costa Adeje, then with the town of Adeje in the foreground. Another shows the coast from La Caleta, vía our village, to Callao Salvaje.
