Obviously, you don’t want any boring words today, all that matters is the details of the wedding? Sorry but first there’s the morning to talk about!
We head back towards town, taking a lower trajectory, and happily pass by the arts quarter, finding the local dance school, cinema and theatre. Here there is the rigging of outdoor staging and seating for a ten-day contemporary dance festival, last night tonight so we’re not going to see that, impressive as it looks.
We pass the Great War memorial built in 1924, 100 years old this year, and then under the railway viaduct towards the river. Unfortunately our planned pathway is closed for works, so we have to find another route, which has the benefit of taking us though a C13 area of the city near the cathedral with wonderfully characterful housing.
Finally we’re back on the river path and wander for a few miles before being forced inland. We stop to pickup lunch – quiche Lorraine – and head back to our hotel to do a couple of hours work before it’s time to get ready.
On advice from above, IE Michelle, we take the scenic cross-country route to the Domain de la Monasterié which is a very pleasant drive.
Walking up the driveway we can instantly see why this is the chosen place, such an idyllic location for a fairytale wedding – a bit like ours was at Fischers, but on a much grander scale. We assemble in the courtyard for a while.
Before long we’re seated and the ceremony starts, everyone thankful a light cloud cover has turned the sun down a bit from its earlier fierce setting.
Drinks and canapés follow along with meeting some other guests.
Soon we’re back into the courtyard and then the attached barn where the Wedding Breakfast will be served. After a few speeches we enjoy an excellent meal then more speeches.
Finally it’s time to dance and later get back to the hotel, this time taking the much quicker motorway option.
