We’re sailing the South China Sea today. On sea days we go down to Pinnacle Grill for breakfast. Amongst other things I request a grapefruit but an orange arrives. When I query this the staff try to tell me it’s a Chinese grapefruit, which I know is a load of BS!
We get our usual five miles done next. It’s a larger walking track than Seabourn so only takes 25 circuits instead of 80. Captain van der Wal tells us that the area we are sailing is a special military zone and photos are not allowed. Apart from a small fishing boat, it was so dull I cannot find any good reason to break the law.
I catch a cooking demo during the morning which is entertaining rather than educational. The days of getting samples is over but apparently that dish will be in MDR tonight, but as we never go to Main Dining Room I’ll just have to miss out on Honey Sriracha Salmon Bowl.
After lunch we enjoy a lazy afternoon on our balcony, a jacuzzi and finally the canapés arrive whilst we are dressing.
We watch the first half of the first show before we go to dinner, and catch the second half of the second after dinner, our timing so perfect we don’t miss a second!
The grill is configured as Asian for five nights, so again we enjoy Tamarind specials Satay skewers, bao buns, chicken red curry, tiger prawns, frogspawn (I mean tapioca pudding) and the infamous cherry chocolate tarte.
