After tendering into the small port of Sami, we first visit a supermarket to pick up provender, then continue our walk round the bay to Seven Seas boat hire.
A quick refresher course in how to drive, and then we’re sailing off, first back past Encore and then around the headland heading south.
We did this when were staying on Kefalonia for a pre-cruise week some years ago, so know the area. We hop around the many bays, passing others like us and some huge mega yachts too.
After a couple of bays and swims, we identify a sweet little beach and with some care I back in far enough that we can wade in, meaning we can picnic on the beach. It’s just a perfect way to enjoy our lunch of taramasalata and tzatziki.
Eventually we have to return in order to get the last tender back to the ship.
There’s not much pool time left, but that’s fine in the circumstances, and it’s not long before we shower and dress for dinner.
Dinner tonight HAS to be Colonnade, becuase it’s Rib Eye on the menu. Starter is Waldorf salad, with endive and romain leaves, branch dressing with celery, apple and walnut, it is excellent. Main is the aforementioned rib eye, perfectly cooked, with béarnaise on the side and excellent crushed potatoes in course-grain mustard creamy sauce. Next is cheese on toast, yes really, just a single slice of sourdough with some Boursin and honey – quite yummy. We finish with chocolate pie, which is good but the base is overcooked.
