After a lovely poolside breakfast, we head off towards Hiroshima centre, passing through regular neighbourhoods, coming across a lovely temple, and even a church at one stage, neither open to visitors.

Shukkeien Gardens dates back to 1620 and is a gorgeous example of a classical Japanese garden, representing the world in miniature. Of course, it is completely rebuilt, only one tree survived the bomb, which we see here in the photo taken shortly after, and today.

Fourteen bridges take us around the lake where we witness beautiful koi, exquisite emerging blossom, and numerous tea-rooms.

Moving on we return to the castle, this time we have time to visit proper. It dates back to 1600, again completely rebuild exactly how it was, now housing a museum to the battle-ready warriors of old.

On our return journey we pass the tram-sheds compete with their own story.

Sailaway is a champagne and caviar party accompany a classic concert given by two of the singers.

For dinner we both have scallop in saffron risotto, squash soup, stroganoff and strawberry sundae.

The turn is Corlea, a wonderful South African singer. We return to a lovely bedside creation.
