Today is a new place for us. It’s also the third and last Croatian port on this adventure.
We are moored in the bay near Vodice, and take tenders into the town. Once a fishing village, it’s become a popular seaside resort for Croatians, Hungarians, Germans and many other Europeans for whom it’s just a few hours drive.
We firstly wander east, aiming for a small town called Tribunj, where there’s a cute chapel on the hillside. It’s quite a climb in the heat, we pass fourteen stations of the cross, although they are all empty!
Later we backtrack, heading southerly for a few miles past the Olympia resort hotel, which really stands out above the low-level housing, and on to Srima beach.
It’s super-hot and after eight miles we’re ready to go home as soon as we have wandered around town. The tender is virtually deserted and we are quickly returned. I go for chili con carne for my lunch, Hubby is more traditional and has Cæsar with grilled chicken.
One of our fabulous bartenders, Anna, makes us mudslides, and later a secret recipe which we eventually beat out of her – it’s very good!
We enjoy our usual pre-dinner champagne cocktails from Joyce, our other fabulous bartender, before sticking to the Patio Grill for dinner, three visits in one day!
Tonight at Earth and Ocean, as Patio Grill is called in the evening, serves us salmon and prawns, veal cheeks with rice and fried egg (a bit like Nasi Goreng) and finally, we pinch apple pie from another dining room, or rather our lovely waiter Vivesh does on our behalf!
Tonight’s turn is Leanne Mitchell, of whom we’ve never heard, but apparently she won the first The Voice programme. Regardless, she has a fabulous pair of bellows and we really enjoy her performance.
