A very short final post. We watch sunrise this morning, not intentionally, just fail to notice that our neighbour has sailed away leaving our window open to the early sun.

Breakfast feels a bit demob-happy, our server Andre is also leaving to day so there is a lot of goodbyes to be said! French toast and omelette are perfect though.

We complete packing, catch our lovely stewardess Nilda to say thanks in the customary way, then take a handful or turns around the top deck which waiting for our 08:30 taxi. It is perfectly on time and 30 seconds later we are on the way to Vienna Airport.

It’s a very short journey, just 19km, but costs €52 and of course he can’t take cards today!

It is our second visit this year to Vienna Airport – it is such a slick operation it is wonderful. The checki-in is all automated and virtually instant. No queue at security.

The lounge is lovely, with super-fancy coffee machines, glass cases full of pastries, a full breakfast if needed – we watch two lads opposite us demolish four plates of food each, washed down with coffee and brandy.

Our flight is running late, but not by too much. We board easily, but within minutes the captain tells us we are going to be delayed as he needs something repairing before we leave. Later a young girl tells the stewards she has a stomach pains, but we note that she still flies. Someone finds a spare lifevest, so there’s an announcement to ask if everyone has a designated jacket. This journey is starting to carry the sub-title Titanic!

Happily, indeed obviously, since you are reading this, nothing untoward came of all the sagas. We make up most of the time, and with clear skies most of the way we clearly see Gibraltar, Fuerteventura and Maspalomas on Gran Canaria. Palm Mar looks great just before we land.

At TFS we manage to miss one of our cases on the carousel and being last, start to think the worst. Of course it eventually comes around again but for a short while …

The car is waiting, but filthy, covered in Sahara sand. We are home less than an hour from landing, and after fixing an annoying work problem we are in the pool just before 18:00. We see friends from the next village for dinner.
