Our last sea day for a while, we get all the usual things done like breakfast and walking. During the latter we encounter squalls which are more than welcome, it’s 30° and 98% humidity out on deck 10 so a five minute wetting is appreciated.
No cooking today because there is a special event from the ship’s port lecturer Ian. It’s a history of the company since it’s inception in 1872. We learn about the first ship, Rotterdam, and milestones along the company’s journey. It is a super-slick presentation which we really enjoy, I would happily watch it again, which is great as it may come around next cruise, let’s see.
After lunch there’s a tiny bit of work needed, and we need to get a good Spanish lesson in because tomorrow will be difficult. Our concierge Kristine insists on printing out our Thai landing cards, and we fix a minor account issue.
Finally we make it to the jacuzzi, chat with a few people and endure a tongue lashing from another customer, not about us but about the two little Dutch boys who insist on making waves. I can see both sides of this problem, but she doesn’t want to hear, only make herself heard!! In any case it’s the parents fault, not the boys.
This evening is s ship’s company show so we sit down in the stalls, and guess who sits next to me. Fortunately she doesn’t recognise me with any clothes on.
The show is entitled “A Swing Thing” and takes more modern songs and reimagines them in forties, fifties and sixties settings both musically and choreographically. We love this production.
For dinner we revisit some old favourites and try a new menu item too – halibut with red curry which is great!
