We start our morning with 100 laps. Well, no, obviously we take breakfast first, then do our 10km which starts with cool and wet decks, but they are dry and the sun hot by the time we’re done.
Time then, for a swim. We’ve not hoping to do 100 lengths as we do daily at home, just 50 will suffice, before we jacuzzi with an Adelaide couple – lots of wine to discuss In their part of Oz – until lunchtime. Rainbow trout is lovely and succulent with a French Chardonnay to accompany it.
A good dose of DuoLingo in the early afternoon is followed by jacuzzi with a Syracuse, NY couple and we have a fascinating conversation spanning Seabourn (obviously) and comparing the “State of the Nation” from each of our perspectives.
We have to go home early as it’s “Block Party” this evening – where we all gather outside our cabins, to say hello to our neighbours and quaff champagne and canapés – a lovely way of introducing each other, and meeting a few officers and other senior staff.
We learn that on this cruise the ship has 315 customers, exactly 70% occupancy, and 362 staff onboard – great for us but not so good for the share dividend!
Standard evening procedure gets us to the sky bar for Bellini and Kir Royal and then down to MDR where we enjoy spring roll and scallops to start then both have duck breast with confit leg followed by white chocolate soufflé.
The turn is a former Broadway / West End leading lady – who sang diva numbers from Liza, Barbara and several others.
