After breakfast in Pinnacle Grill we plan to do half our walk, but the rain is extremely persistent, so we do it on deck three, the promenade deck, instead of deck ten. This isn’t covered like the Titanic’s was, however there are some of places which manage to escape the worst of this tropical downfall, and a few that don’t! Last night we had a humdinger of a storm, and today it looks like we can expect more.
We break half way, try to dry ourselves and then pop into World Stage because we want to see the City at Sea documentary that HAL has created. It’s a bit like our behind the scenes tour, but for the people who couldn’t go, and with lots of extra items too.
It’s a very engaging production with staff talking in between the video clips, culminating in Captain van der Wal raising a glass to the assembled staff, not unlike the Seabourn staff appreciation event – although not as flamboyant.
We finish our walk then return to our cabin to do Spanish and a bit of work. Meanwhile the storm has hit again and we have spectacular lightening and thunder for an hour.
By which time we’re starving so order burgers online and then head off to pick them up. It’s a bit busy on deck nine so we pick up our order and bring it back, although we still cannot go out onto our balcony.
Next we return to Pinnacle Grill because we have a wine tasting to attend. Head sommellier Francisco, whom we’ve known for over fifteen years, is both entertaining and knowledgeable – we’re very happy to appreciate these wines with him.
After I almost catch up with blogging we head to the midships pool and jacuzzi. Our usual Dutch boys soon muscle into our jacuzzi, along with their Auzzie pals, and we talk about them returning to school. One of the dads joins in and we have a great chat about Australia and travel in general.
Finally we get to swim a while, but it’s soon time to return home for Chardonnay and canapés. It’s the second show of Sueli Tang and although we attend our opinion hasn’t changed, we do not really like her performance or more specifically both the balance and arrangements she seems to think are acceptable. Add to that the feedback during her solo numbers and we walk away with the wrong kind of lasting memories.
Fortunately dinner is wonderful, we have lobster bisque; sea bass and halibut; key lime pie. All totally fabulous.
